Positive Emergency Tire Service S. FL
Tuesday evening on the last leg of our two week trip to Tennessee and back, just below Orlando I had a blow out on the front driver side tire. I did not expect it as I only had 8100 miles on them. I do have to say that my motor home handled exceptionally as I did not know what the problem was until I got out and saw it. Just slowed and moved over to the side nicely.
My insurance wanted to send a tow truck to tow us to a repair shop, and a taxi for the family to take us to a hotel for the night. Then I asked "what about the dogs?" We both decided I could try to find a replacement tire and send them the invoice.
The turnpike service center gave me the name of several tire service companies. The first did not have my size. The second (Total Roadside Services) returned my call within a minute, or two at the most. He had the tire and would be on his way in no time.
The guy, Jeremy, drove a long way, from Okeechobee,FL, and had the new tire on and ready to roll within about 35 minutes after arrival. Was most professional and worked quickly.
Just wanted to pass along their info as they did me right. He services Orlando south, so, should you need service give them a call.
Total Roadside Services 863-634-6839 I give them an A+
On another note, the lady at the Canoe Creek Service Plaza (on the FL Turnpike) phoned me back about an hour and a half after I had first called them. They wanted to make sure I had everything under control and was not stuck out on the side of the road for the night. I am quite impressed with them also.

Blow out, Goodyear G670RV
Tuesday night on the last leg of our trip, an hour and a half from home. I was rolling along at about 63-64mph, BANG, I look to my left and see a bit of smoke. I slow down and safely off to the edge.
As I get out to inspect to see what happened, it was my front driver side tire. A blow out. The MH handled great getting off to the side as I had no idea it was the tire.
Got a replacement tire and the guy told me to go to goodyear and ask for a replacement. I only had 8100 miles on them.
Has anyone else had any success in getting Goodyear to replace a tire with sidewall failure?
I figure it is worth a try. It is the original tires which came on it.
RE: filling tank with $75 limit on CC
I have started only using my debit card. Just returned from a two week trip and had one pump stop me at $75, so I swiped it 4 times. All the others let me fill it up. No reasoning to it, I noticed on my bank web site that most all of the fuel purchases were posted to my account 1 or 2 days after the actual purchase using the debit.
I guess we swipe and we swipe. Just Count our Blessings that we are able to.
RE: Leveling Jacks
I used mine last night after a blow out. The guy with the new tire was a friend of a good friend and he said he changes them all the time with the leveling jacks lifting. This was the first time I had manually used mine, I just always turn them on and then push the AUTO button.
Once he arrived, he had the new tire on and I was ready to roll in under 35 minutes. Not bad for a roadside repair(new tire).
RE: Reverse 50 amp input?
Hi Neighbor!
I would check with FPL on that one to see if they have some built in protection on the back flow (for lack of another word) of power. If I understand correctly, you are wanting to use the generator on your RV to power the stick house should another storm come through?
Heck, if another storm is headed our way we are in the MH on the way out of there!
As for cleaning, refrigerator and TV usage, I have learned here on the forums and use a heavy gauge extension cord from the outside 20amp outlet at the house. This will cool the refrigerator, run the TV and even one A/C. I try to minimize usage (don't try to run the microwave and the coffee maker at the same time as the A/C) but to this point have had no problems. Right now sitting in families drive in TN with power to the MH this way.
Also may want to check with one of the hardware stores, there is some sort of circuit that they sell where you can use the portable generators that we all have from the past storms to hook directly to your stick house wiring.
Please keep us posted as to what you do.
RE: AC on 20 amp service?
Thanks everyone. I just wanted to make sure I was not going to cause a problem.
My best to everyone,

AC on 20 amp service?
We are currently parked in my sister in law's driveway visiting everyone in Tennessee. I have a heavy duty extension cord which I use to keep the batteries charged and the fridge cold while parked here. Using the normal adapters up to my 50 amp plug.
When we need the A/C, I would go out, unplug from the house and plug into the generator and run it when needed, then go back to the house outside outlet when we didn't.
My question rises from yesterday, I disconnected the gen. and plugged into the outside outlet at the house, however, I did not notice that the rear A/C was still turned on but not running. I went into the house to come out and the A/C was running, I ran in to turn it off and the motor home was nice and cool. I went out and checked the cord for heat, but there was none. The outside circuit is on a 20 amp breaker. Is it OK to run the A/C on this? One would think that it would trip it if not.... Hopefully this would not cause any problems.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
RE: 5'er flipped on I-75 in Central Michigan
So sad, hope no one was injured. Can always purchase another RV.
Last Thursday at a campground in N. Georgia, we noticed a family pulling in to register. They stopped and the Mom got out and went back to open the 5'er. There were 2 adults and 2 children riding in the trailer. I thought this was a no-no. Later I heard the driver talking about how they had drove straight through Atlanta.
Gee, aren't there some type of law against this? Maybe it is just common sense not to ride people in the trailer.
Common sense it uncommon anymore.
Be safe,

RE: Good Sam Trip maker CHANGED
I don't like the new one either. Maybe I am missing something, but I always liked the running mileage both going and coming. Does anyone know where you can find one like that now?
Now I am debating re-newing GS as this is the feature that I use most.
I tried to contact the local chapter several months back and never got a reply. Guess they are all out camping or don't want any new members.
RE: Leave in Gear at Stops -or Neutral
I am not a mechanic, however, one once told me to never put in neutral while sitting. For what it is worth, he said that "when in neutral the fluids are not circulated."
So, I just don't do it. If sitting for a while just put into park.
Does anyone know any negatives of just putting the parking brake on when in this situation? One would think none?
RE: Wireless Router ?
Many thanks to everyone.
I think Chris hit it on the head. I have found a Hawking available and planning to pick it up. Head out on Wednesday for a 2 week fun trip to Tennessee. Hopefully I can find some networks there to log onto.
Again, thanks.
Count your Blessings!

Wireless Router ?
I was reading post regarding wireless routers with external antenna. My laptop has an internal antenna which works well here at the house.
Now the question. I have a Linksys wireless G router for my home, would taking this in the RV and hooking (wired) my laptop to it help my wifi reception in the campgrounds? In other words, does it work both ways? Or is there some other device that I would need in order to better pick up the wifi signals?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
My best,
Helperzack
RE: How I setup a CB in my Class C
Nice application. I like how you mounted both the radio and the antenna. I guess after a year or so in the weather, the outside mount may have to be redone, but that looks like a minimal job.
Does anyone know how long a coax run can be? I have a 32' class A and was thinking of running from a CB up front, out the firewall, then maybe try to find some way to get up on top. Just trying to figure out how to not drill any holes. Or at least only one. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
RE: Paying bills.
One of my banks,(Suntrust)no endorsement just sharing. Has an option where companies can send you your statement electronically through the on line bill pay system. I have not tried it but my son who uses Bank of America has it too.
Now most all utility, credit card, insurance and some taxing authorities all want you to let them send their statements via email. Saves them money.
Heck, even with my small business, I offer a $2.00 discount if you will let me send your invoice via email or fax. You have to pay on time. I figure that by the time I pay my biller to print it, fold it, stuff it in an envelope, provide a return envelope, and pay postage. I may be coming out better.
Give electronic a try, once you use it a month or two, you will wonder how you ever did without it. Also, no postage cost! Sweet!
RE: I used E-Bay to buy something, PayPal fraud alert!
With my business I work with the elderly. I am always telling my clients to never speak to anyone that calls them asking for information. Many of my clients are early dementia and I worry about them.
One lady who was rather well off informed me that she had won the Canadian Lottery. I questioned her and found out that she had sent $10k to someone in Canada, and she was wanting me to take her to the bank to get a cashiers check to send another 5k as there were more taxes due.
When I tried to explain to her that it was a hoax, she assured me that it was not as she had received a box of roses from the guy after she sent the 10k. Sad.
Once she figured out that I was correct, she informed me that she was receiving many phone calls from all types of winnings. All of them saying that she only had to pay the taxes. The first one must have sold her number. We had to change her number.
Just can't trust anyone.
RE: Anyone cutting their vacation short?
Nope!
Actually, this years vacation will be the longest one in a good while. Loading the MH this weekend and depart next Wednesday. Heck, the way things are going, in a few years there may not be any more vacations. Better take them while we can.

RE: Complaint about park neighbors taking part of my site
When folks get to close to me at a site, I just open up all the windows, turn up the stereo real loud, and start singing and romping around the motor home in the buff. Works every time.
Just kidding. Couldn't help it. :B
I think I would either shrug it off or see the management. The only thing is that anytime something like this happens, management is already gone. And face it, most people who would do this either don't realize it, or they are just dumb as a stump. I do my best not to let dumb people have any effect on me. They normally earn their own rewards and sometimes to our amusement.
Count your blessings!
RE: Would you pay off mtr hme with savings?
Good for you on the stick house. That's a wonderful feeling to have it paid off.
My thoughts would be to hold onto your cash for now. There is no hurry and we need to wait until after the elections to see when things will settle down and rebound. Since you are lucky enough to be retired, maybe you could find a part time/flex time position that you could enjoy to increase your "fun money." With my small business, retirees make up 90% of my company. Most of them are part time/flex time staffers and love it, and I love having them and their knowledge.
I have studied Dave Ramsey, and have really learned to manage what little money I have much better.
Count your blessings!
RE: I-75 South Georgia ?
JaBob,
I used to live there and I avoid 285 myself, west side was always a washboard. If all the construction downtown is at night and weekends, I should be fine going straight through. Have they ever really finished any interstate construction around and through Atlanta?
When I was there I had to travel the northern loop of 285. Always wondered why they just didn't add 2 lanes instead of one at a time, as they seemed to finish one and then start on another.
We miss several things about the Atlanta area. Traffic is not one of them. Is 750 where Capt. Herb was, is he still around?
Thanks for the suggestions.
